Winterize Your Home!

Hey everybody! I just wanted to share what the kids and I did this weekend. We winterized our home WHILE enjoying the beautiful weather! No procrastination this year! Why wait for the cold! Here are some budget and eco-friendly tips for conserving energy and getting your home winterized. Check and replace weather-stripping where needed. (The kids had fun looking for the cracks and spaces where air can get in or out.) Also inspect and cover your spigots and outside faucets. Now is a good time of year to schedule an inspection of your furnace to make sure it is running efficiently. Make sure your attic has the proper amount of insulation. And last, repot and bring in plants. This is my favorite, I love plants and during the winter one section of my home usually looks like a greenhouse! Indoor plants provide many health benefits. Plants filter toxins out of the air, reduce stress, decrease headaches and can even help fight colds! This is due to their effect of increasing humidity levels and decreasing dust. Oh and they make you happy! Studies show they contribute to well-being, SO no winter blahs in my house!
